What if I don’t identify as neurodivergent?
Our definition of neurodiversity includes all mental health concerns, so even if you don’t identify as being neurodivergent, we encourage you to reach out to see if working together might be a good fit.
Neurodiversity-affirming therapy is a way to approach all clients that centers them as whole, complex human beings. By centering YOU, Caitlin helps to empower you as a person, work through stigma and shame, and help you see the beauty in yourself. We get specific with what brings you to therapy, and focus on real ways to lessen the impact of what is causing you stress, pain, and/or suffering.
-
What is the process of starting therapy?
After a consultation where both you and Caitlin determine that working together would be a good fit, she will send you a link to complete documents and access your client portal.
You then schedule an initial appointment.
The beginning of therapy includes check-ins to make sure you are receiving the help you are looking for. If at any point you feel that another therapist or a different service might help you more on your journey, Caitlin is happy to help coordinate connecting you to other practitioners. The goal is to help you find the best care for you, whether that is continuing work with Caitlin or not.

I’ve had bad experiences with therapy in the past and am nervous about starting.
We totally understand that clients have had negative experiences in therapy.
We work to reduce the likelihood of negative experiences by:
-Putting care into finding a great fit.
-Being honest and upfront about cost and logistics of starting therapy.
-Asking for feedback from clients to help them direct therapy.
-Allowing clients to help guide therapy.
-Creating a safe space for clients where giving their therapist feedback when a session feels off to them is not only possible, but encouraged.
-For those of you who have experienced typical therapy intakes, we’d like you to know that we never require as a part of our intake process you sharing with us vulnerable experiences in your life. At any point, you can share anything you’d like. but there’s no rush as to when that happens.

What is executive functioning?
Executive Functioning (EF) is a broad term that covers all the skills and strategies that allow you to choose and control your own behavior. To put it another way:
Executive functioning is what allows you to take any idea, desire or decision in your head and actually do something to bring it into reality.
-
Do you take insurance?
Caitlin has a limited number of spots to take Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Blue Cross Blue Shield BlueChoice PPO for therapy sessions (Illinois only). As of May 2025, it is unlikely these spots will open soon. If you are interested in joining the insurance waitlist, you are welcome to reach out.
Caitlin is out-of-network for all other insurance plans.
Our practice provides documents called superbills that will allow you to be reimbursed by your insurance at the out-of-network rate for your plan.
Clients see Caitlin anywhere from twice a week, once a week, every other week, and once a month.
-
What should I do if I can’t afford your services?
With the state of the healthcare system, we understand that access to our services are limited. The practice Caitlin works for, Effective Artistry, offers reduced fee services to clients, based on clinician availability. Caitlin is happy to connect you to Effective Artistry.
Additionally, Caitlin is doing her best on social media platforms and on this website to offer free resources for folks who are interested in her approach and cannot afford to work with her directly.
